The Temporary Closure extending from the Old Wharf to the New Wharf is the immediate coastal border to Fyffe House and its surrounding Historic Precinct. As a Temporary Closure, this area is temporarily closed to the taking of marine life in an effort to encourage regeneration of it’s ecosystem.
The Temporary Closure is literally on our doorstep the views from almost every window of the house are of the Temporary Closure, it’s waters provided livelihoods and it’s foreshore the playground of every child that ever lived in the house. Because of this and its significance to our community and our coastal environment we are holding a Day of Celebration on October 27. This free day is for local families to learn more about our coastal environment and to be entertained and educated with a variety of activities and displays planned throughout the day.
Whilst conservation of our coast is important, the day is also about how we interact with the marine environment, what it has provided us with, how as a town we have developed around it and how our future links with it.
Please become involved !
We are keen to have marine based operators, individuals and organizations involved in the day. If you are interested in having a display, stand or educational or promotional material on the day do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your concept and book a space. There is no charge as this is a free day for our community to celebrate our environment, examine our past, and consider our future.
