Whiriwhiri Whakaaro Discussion Group

Whiriwhiri Whakaaro - 'Gathering Thoughts' - is an Email discussion group where Te Tiaki Mahinga Kai members can debate issues, ask questions of each other, announce upcoming events and share lessons and useful sources of information.

How do I Sign Up?

Fill out the registration form online.

You might also receive an email asking you to join. The email will contain instructions for you to follow if you do want to sign up. If you don't, do nothing and you will be left off the list.

How do I participate?

You will receive messages posted to Whiriwhiri Whakaaro as email in your inbox. The message is sent to the 'listserver', a kind of automated electronic post office that sends copies of all exchanges to everyone at once.

You can respond to the 'listserver' to provide feedback or bring up a new topic by sending a message to whiriwhiri.whakaaro@lists.otago.ac.nz.

Just remember that your email will go to the entire list all at once. That means you might want to be a bit careful about giving stick to your aunties or cousies when you write to the server .... everyone's going to know about it pretty fast and someone might come knocking on your door at night!

Who's behind it all?

Members are in control. Our role is only to set up the list and add new members, and send announcements from the Research Team. We'll try the discussion group without any 'Moderator' for awhile, but if problems arise, we'll put one of the project team into a traffic police role - just to weed out unwanted stuff or to stop your Mailbox filling up with junk mail. You can learn more of the detail and etiquette of Whiriwhiri Whakaaro by downloading the 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQ) Sheet

Can I get off the list?

Yes, at any time. Visit your subscription page by typing the following address into your web browser and add your email address to the end:

http://lists.otago.ac.nz/options/whiriwhiri.whakaaro/youremail

or,

send an Email message to mahingakai@otago.ac.nz and request to be removed from the list at once.
