Two new members of the TMK team were announced this June; Gaya Gnanalingam and Lucy Coyle were awarded funding in the 2019 Te Pūnaha Hikiko Vision Mātauranga Capability Fund investment round. Both projects are supported by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Mahinga Kai unit and research/academic staff from the University of Otago.

Gaya’s project will look at modelling harvest in customary protected areas, and Lucy’s project is focused towards facilitating information and conversation between scientists and CPA managers through the rohe moana o Ngāi Tahu. For more information on Te Pūnaha Hihiko capability fund follow this link. https://www.mbie.govt.nz/science-and-technology/science-and-innovation/funding-information-and-opportunities/investment-funds/vmcf/
